24.01.08 - - BYE BYE BYE BORDERS! ! !

It was great to escape from Yong and my managers!
It was incredible to escape from this "hustle bustle" place!
It was reluctant to leave my magazines and friends behind!



24.01.08 was the day!



I helped out "fiction", "literature", "gardening", "medical/health", "knitting/needlecraft" sections to do ERPL return before I left [See, how pro am I, I'm the first person who managed to do lots of return within a day even though I'm in charge in magazine =)]

ERPL return means return the "couldn't sold out" 's books to the publishers, so that we can add in the new coming books to the shelves. We based on the lists that given by the publisher to do the return.



The last 2 hours I was in charge in Info Counter. I met a fussy customer. He is an Indian. He wanna search for a book called "Not without My Daughter". I checked the TLU system and the result came out that this book is unavailable in whole Malaysia.

So, I told the customer and asked him politely whether he wanna make a special order [we call it SPO].


Guess what he asked me?

"I wanna know when will that book arrive in M'sia", he said.

I answered, "Sir, we don't know when will that book arrives, but we can make special order for you which is guaranteed you can have that book within 4-6weeks."

"What 4-6weeks? It takes such long time??" he murmured.

Few minutes later, he asked me make special order for him. Cause I am not good in that, I paged for Sue Ann to help me serve that customer. Of course, for shipping fee, we have to add in extra RM5 as the transportation fee.

"Sir, in order to make SPO, we need your name, ic num, address and also deposit for RM30, shipping fee for RM5", Sue Ann told him.

"Rm5?? Ok, I want your manager's contact num and also email address. Also, I wanna ask your manager whether the RM5 in under Borders' policy, or Penang bookstore's policy or Malaysia bookstore's policy" he argued.

Not to procastinate our time, I asked Sue Ann to page for manager and let our "lovable" manager settled that bossy customer!!

I said Cheerio to my friends after 6pm and went back to my locker. Sophia [my best partner in magazine's department ], Ferida [best Supervisor in borders] and Kah Hwa [a newbie] were there too. We chatted a while.

Then, suddenly Yong [mean-est supervisor] appeared.


He wished me lucks and asked me to treat him??

"What? Yong, you should treat me since you are my supervisor", I said.

"Have you done the ERPL return?" he asked me.

"Yup, I did, I left em inside the sort room", I answered proudly and loudly. ^^

"Oh I see, so it's you who left em inside the cartons messily in the sort room?" he asked me back?

"Oops, I thought you say no need to arrange one, just put inside the cartons will do?" I asked im back non-mercifully?

"No, no, you have to arrange it nicely? So how now??" he looked at me with his cunning smile.

"Fine, I will arrange everything before I go home" I said softly and went to the sort room immediately.


Luckily, Kah Hwa helped me out, I did the cartons while she arranged the books to the new cartons. Within 15 minutes, we had done out tasks and so I went for haircut in Hair Icon.

-Sophia (teaches me to handle magazines stuff and the best partner ever when shelving hundred copies of magazines. Thanks)

-Mardiya (back up for me in Info Counter, fooling together, I like to ask her "Are you Insane? Are you bleeding? You need me to page for Yong for pad?". . . I helped her to do recovery in Kid sections and also shelving. . .In return, she treated me Mcd and now she is still owing me a Frapuccino ^^ Thanks!)

-Sue Ann (back up for me in Info Counter and also I helped her to shelve her Science Fiction and Mystery sections' novels in return ^^)

-Kah Hwa (although you're new, you helped me out in the last day of mine. Thanks)

-Chun You (thanks for accompanying me to work in Borders)

p/s: YONG, you're really mean, even it's my last day, you still asked me to stay back to arrange the return books, anyway, I wanna say Thank You to you and also Hate You in the same time. Thankful for all the teaching, Hatred for scolding and lecturing me badly as if you're the pro!!

23.01.08 -- FUCKED

Today, I was kinda anxious of my 2nd bro. Morning shift I had today. After 6pm, decided to go shopping with my colleagues [Amos, Sophia and Leng Seng].

Around 3pm, I called my home, wanted to ask my mum no need to fetch me home and also no need to prepare dinner for me as Amos will bring me home before 10pm. Weirdly, nobody answered.

I tried again after 15min. This time my 2nd bro picked up. I told him the message, so that he can "deliver" to my mum as my mum went out for hair cut.

So, the time reached. We changed our clothes and prepared to shop. Here came my cellphone vibrating.



Bro : Wei, faster come down, mum waiting down stair liao.
Me : What? I thought. . .

Bro : Sorry, now in tuition. Forget to inform mum about that.
Me : [Really he stepped into my anger.] ------ {FUCKED} ----- [Off phone]



Apologized to friend that I couldn't make it. Then rushed down to the usual place my mum waiting for me. Viewing from far, my mum's angry face loomed into sight. Wondering what's happened? I should be the one who angry, k?


Mum : You know what? I have been waiting for you since 5.50pm. You now 6.15pm only come down?
Me : Why?

Mum : Your friend called me and asked me to fetch you on 5.50pm! !
Me : What? Who? I didn't ask my friend to phone you.

Mum : Then, who else?
Me : I phoned you later but Yik Wei picked up. I asked him to tell you no need to fetch me cause I wanna go shopping and will be back before 10pm.



Guess what?

My so called STUPID brother was playing fucking online game while answering my phone. He didn't listen what I said. Later, he walked to tuition.

Then, he recalled he have to tell my mum of my message. Coincidently, his hp was out of credit. So, he asked his friend in the tuition centre to call my mum.

And fuckingly, he didn't know what I said, so, he simply "tembak". He asked his friend to tell my mum to fetch me on 5.50pm [as I told him I will be back before10pm].



[Wo hui zai "shi (10) dian" zhi qian hui jia], thats what I told him.
Then he misheard [Wo hui zai "shi (10) ge ri" hui jia].



Ok, fine, I was totally fatigue with him. Didn't even wanna talk to him during dinner time. He's so fucked. I know "fucked" is a mean word and also he is my brother, but so what?



The fact is "HE IS REALLY FUCKED!!"

Today was the day I work in Borders for 1 month.

I just got my Staff Member's Price Card [20% on books, 10% on magazines and 30% on STARBUCKS].

I could use the card until the last day of mine which means I have 4days to go!

Tomorrow I will take use advantages of that card to buy whatever things that can get discount.

And also, my salary will be given around these days if I am not mistaken [thats the most important point!] =)

Was kinda rush after my work. Straightaway my mum fetched me, then dropped my 2nd bro to tuition and heading to SRJK(C) Keong Hoe to fetch my 3rd bro who is now still studying in primary school.

While waiting for the school bell to ring, I waited patiently with my mum. Suddenly, my hp rang up before the school bell.


Allan : Hi, I'm Allan from "Jian Qiao Zhong Xin", is Yik Yang there?
Me : Yes, I'm. [Wondering who's that?]

Allan : Are you interested to study in "Jian Qiao Zhong Xin"?
Me : Not really. Why?

Allan : What're yo doing now? Studying in college? Or working temporarily?
Me : Working now.

Allan : I see. Where?
Me : Borders.

Allan : How's your Eng standard?
Me : Huh?? [Jostled in crowd, couldn't really listen to what he was talking! Kinda pek cheh that time!] Should be Ok gua, still can survive and speak I think!

Allan : Really ar?? [Disbelieve] Sorry, where you working again?
Me : [Being pushed by the crowd] Borders!

Allan : Where is Borders??
Me : [What?? Oh My God. . .] Penang just has a bookstore called Borders only.

Allan : Oh, I know liao, izit situated in Gurney?
Me : [Nearly suffocate and die in the crowd] Excuse me, where do you live? Borders is located in Queensbay Mall. About the Gurney's bookstore you mentioned just now, it is MPH, mister!!!

Allan : Oh, sorry I forget de. . .
Me : [What the heck?? =.="]

Allan : So, how's your Eng level?
Me : [What the f***, same ques again?] Ok la, or else why Borders hired me? [I don't wanna say that but I really couldn't endure him anymore! Ok, I admit my Eng is not good!]

Allan : So, you wanna maintain "your level" or wanna improve and enhance it?
Me : [What "my level"? Rude la. Though my Eng is not good, he should say in a polite way, k?] Sorry, I am busy working now, so I dont think I have time to go to what what "Jian Qiao Zhong Xin". . .

Allan : When is your working shift?
Me : [He is damn f***ing annoying] Work 6 days, everyday 9am till 9pm. [I'm lying of course]

Allan : Wow, when is your off day?
Me : Not sure one, the managers arrange for us randomly every week! [Deceiving again!]

Allan : When is your this week's off day?
Me : Just passed only [I off tomorrow which is 18.01.08 ^^]

Allan : Too bad. I would like to ask you for a visit.
Me : See first la, if I can. . . . [I'M NOT GOING FOR SURE!]

Allan : My contact num is 012-xxxxxxx.
Me : [School bell rang! Ring Ring Ring! Children dashed out like bees in line] I have to continue to work liao, byez. . .

Can anyone tell me where is "Jian Qiao Zhong Xin"? I never heard it before SERIOUSLY. I think the eng name should be called "Cambridge Centre" gua!

I know "British Council" but I really don't know where the hell is "Cambridge Centre"!!!

The Game Plan

Went to Adecco which is beside of Queensbay to sign the contract of mine with Citybank. After an hour, I walked to Queensbay for movie.

A friend of mine invited me to watch "The Game Plan" in Gurney's GSC last Wednesday. Due to transportation problem, we didn't make it out at last. So, today was my off day working in Borders, hence, I decided to watch it alone [Alone, suddenly felt like that movie is nice and wanna enjoyed it myself. I'm weird sometime. Haha].

Oh well, it's nice in conclusion. I felt touched in some parts and my tears shed out too! You can say that I'm emotional that time, but the show really impressed me of the "power of dad" and touched sentimentally. I rate this movie 8 out of 10 after watching it. ^^

I am too lazy to write the synopsis. Pai seh. Haha~

Later, Chun You asked me to go to meet him and Weng Liang in Secret Recipe. Today was Woei Chyuan's birthday. [Happy Birthday to him!]. We bought him Black Forest cake and also a card from Memory Lane. Later, we went to Unionbay [WL's working place] to write the wish on the birthday card.

Met William aka xXweirdXx in blogspot after that. He followed Khai Hern, Kok Onn, Chun Yee etc to T.G.I Friday to celebrate Woei Chyuan's birthday while me and Chun You went home on 8pm.

Me : [Thinking]. . . Cause the magazines tell me they're COLD.




Yong : [Stare at me]

Me : [Walk away to sales floor and keep laughing to myself idiotically]

Finally it comes to an end.

Finally I am hired to work in Citybank last Friday morning.

Finally I handed in my resignation letter to my Borders manager last Friday night.

Finally my supervisors and managers smiled to me since last Saturday without any reason.

Finally I know how valuable and priceless am I in the Inventory Department in Borders.

Finally I start to feel a bit reluctant to leave the magazines I in charge of and secretly read of.

Finally I realize I had been struggling for 3weeks and I have to bear for 2weeks more to leave Borders.

Finally I feel like wanna become a pilot again after came back from airport last Friday night to fetch my cousin and grandma from Johor.

Finally I feel like wanna scream loudly again and again that I wanna grow taller and taller until I reach 180cm which required in piloting career.

Finally I acknowledge that I am way too fatigue and flabby, too fragile and feeble, too lethargic and debilitated, too sick and weak, too forgetful and direction-less. . .

Finally I have to face the truth and back to reality, be thankful and strong. . .

New Year Eve in E-Gate

New Year Eve of mine was spent in E-Gate with Weng Kit, Chun Yee, Khai Hern, Chin Heng, Kok Onn etc.

I have to say that it was the stupidest and most boring FESTIVITY ever. There were no fireworks, Catherine Wheels, sprays and aerosol cans too!

I couldn't feel the HEAT and BUSTLE. I was as if celebrated in the dead city!


When "the Time" struck 12am, we just greeted each other and glanced at the firecrackers that released in Gurney and Explanade distantly. A number of em went to 7-Eleven and bought Beer for a drink. Calsberg, Heineken, Tiger etc. . .

The crowd started to dismiss after 12.15am. Me, Weng Kit and Chun Yee went to Secret Recipe for meal. We had Black Pepper Grilled Chicken Chop, Grapetizer, a New York CheeseCake, a Apple Crumble CheeseCake, a Chocolate Mix CheeseCake and also a Chocolate Indulgence.


We talked about our job experience and plan of further study. And also the plan to celebrate Next Year's New Year Eve in Upper Penang Road. We were silly and unsatisfied.


We went back on 1am.




I didn't take any photo cause there was nothing nice and memorable to be shared and also etched. But I did snap a silly photo.

Christmas Party in Borders [28/12/07]

I don't know the reason I joined this party.
I don't know the reason I told myself it SHOULD BE nice.
I don't even know the reason I stayed there for FUNLESS until 2am.

It was 11pm after the shop [Borders] had closed and we had done the recovery. It was the Day after all.


Yong [my "most favourite" supervisor] came earlier as he worked in morning shift. He came before 10.30pm while I had just finished whole cartons of CLEO magazine. CLEO is a "hottest" magazine in Borders, usually the supplier would come in 200copies and they would be sold out within a week. After CLEO, "Nv You", "Female", "Marie Clarie" and "Shape" are the following hot magazines. This 5 General-Woman-Interest's magazines are the HOT magazines in Borders, perhaps in every Bookstore.

Oftenly, when CLEO sent in, we will be very rush, cause have to push up the sale immediately as the other bookstores also have a rat race with us. So, the day it came was on Christmas Party's night. JC(one Inventory staff like me) helped me to price, as fast as lighting, I shrink-wrapped and shelved it. Too bad, that day just had both of us in duty. Worst till, JC left on 6pm cause she worked in morning shift. The predicament surrounded me for sure. I did everything ALONE, not even CLEO, but others magazine as well.

I managed to rush everything before the shop closed. Just as I returned to the Inventory Room, Yong arrived. He didn't design his usual hairstyle [chicken head which had been out-dated for years], he just leave it flat, and know what?? He looked like a BON BON CAT. Oh well, you can say that he is CUTEE~ [Hahax]

Guess what? He didn't praise me for my capability, instead, he kept grumbling on the return magazines i didn't shelve it nicely. . bla bla bla. . . but, he stopped with this sentence.

What the heck? He suceeded in pouring me COLD WATER again!! Can't he just say something NICE?

Soon, the party began. Sophia[Inventory Staff], Ferida[supervisor] and Dilla[supervisor] reached on 11pm with food. They prepared the food for the party. They were fried noodle, fried fishballs, sardine sandwiches, "ayam rendang" etc.

We played game first. Nope, the managers took photo of us first, then only we played game. The game is Guess and Say. We divided into 2groups. Each group chose 1person to come out to the whiteboard, then the Manager gave that person a look for the Book's name [of course we couldn't see it]. After that, that person only tried to ask us to guess what's the book's name. He/She can "bi shou hua jiao", just cannot say the exact title or else it would be forfeited.

It was not a nice game to me cause I am a newbie. How do you expect me to know Million of books' name in a few days?? So, I just watched em had fun. Finally, it was my turn to ask my friend to guess. I was so unlucky. I got the title "Phantom of Opera". . . Goddamn it. . .How to "bi shou hua jiao" ??

The first idea of mine is to tell my friend it was a Movie's name. Then, I drew a silly yet "cacat" cinema ----- {I was trying to show em it is an Opera}. . . The second thing, I drew a stupid yet funny mask!! They couldnt guess it cause the mask that I drew look more to Glasses or Spec. What the. . .?? [Haha, ok, I'm cacat in drawing, k??]




Finally, we could eat de. . . I just had the fishballs, sandwiches and chocolate. . . Later, my manager gave us a non-alcoholic drink each. . . I managed to snap few photos with my friends although photographing is not allowed in Borders. Thats why I didn't take the photo when we were in game.

Slowly, I kept switching tv channel, was kinda not in mood, so crawled to bed to lie down. Wait till 11.45pm only wish my friends thru hp, the connection jammed as I thought soon. . . Later, I slept PEACEFULLY in this bored yet meaningless X'Mas {Sob Sob}


I promised myself to go crazy in this coming 2008's X'Mas!!!
